Hirschsprunghus – Building E – Brede – External vertical shutters

For Building E in the newly renovated office building complex Hirschsprunghus on Bredevej in Virum, Art Andersen has designed and supplied 15 external vertical shutters shielding the very large windows at the building’s reception area from the sun – and from undesired heat.

The shutters are very tall, 5.7 meters. And the slats are 55 cm wide. They are made as sandwich structures with double frames of anodized aluminium enclosing perforated zinc panels with a perforation degree of 33%.

The external vertical shutters are moved by electric motors and worm gears located in the bottom rail, which is hidden in the facade cladding. They are fully rotatable about their vertical axis – and controlled via the building’s CTS system.

Art Andersen did the project for Schødt Byggerådgivning and Over Byen Arkitekter.
